How many portions of fruit and vegetables do smoothies provide?
Smoothies can count up to a maximum of two portions our 5 A DAY. It depends on how much juice and fruit or vegetable pulp is used. For a smoothie to count as two portions is needs to contain at least 150ml of fruit or vegetable juice and at least 80grams of crush fruit or vegetable pulp.
Remember that no matter how much is consumed, smoothies will only count up to a maximum of two portions of our 5 A DAY.
It is still important to eat whole fruit and vegetables in addition to drinking fruit smoothies.
